Hyracodon nebraskensis from the White River Formation, Nebraska, USA.
Hyracodon (running rhino) was similar in appearance to primitive horses, they lived on vast grass plains / open woodland and grew to approximately 5 feet in length. Although much smaller, the teeth are very similar to more recent rhinoceroses.
This fossil dates to the Oligocene Period
The jaw section has been glued and then treated with a preservative.
