Bowfin fish (Cyclurus kehreri) for the world famous Messel fossil site in Germany.
Dates to the Eocene Period (Circa 47 million years old). Fish measures 16.5 cm.
As with all fossils from this site it has been prepared using the resin transfer process, exceptional detail can be observed including teeth, scales & bones (as can be seen in the pictures!). There are no repairs or restoration on this fossil, the fish is 100% natural.
